  1. To compile KSquirrel from sources you need to install kde-devel package.
  2. It will install all needed header files. In Mandriva or same systems
  3. you should also install tdebase-devel package.
  4. In Debian do
  5. # apt-get install kde-devel
  6. Then follow the installation instructions:
  7. 1. First install 'ksquirrel-libs' package:
  8. a) from sources
  9. # tar jxfv ksquirrel-libs-0.8.0.tar.bz2
  10. # cd ksquirrel-libs-0.8.0/
  11. * # su -c './required-etch'
  12. # ./configure.gnu
  13. # make
  14. # su -c 'make install'
  15. b) from binary packages
  16. RPM # rpm -ihv ksquirrel-libs-0.8.0.rpm
  17. TGZ # installpkg ksquirrel-libs-0.8.0.tgz
  18. DEB # dpkg -i ksquirrel-libs-0.8.0.deb
  19. 2. Now install KSquirrel:
  20. a) from sources
  21. # tar jxfv ksquirrel-0.8.0.tar.bz2
  22. # cd ksquirrel-0.8.0/
  23. * # su -c './required-etch'
  24. # ./configure.gnu
  25. # make
  26. # su -c 'make install'
  27. * For Debian Etch and Ubuntu Feisty only.
  28. This will install all required packages with aptitude.
  29. b) from binary packages
  30. RPM # rpm -ihv ksquirrel-0.8.0.rpm
  31. TGZ # installpkg ksquirrel-0.8.0.tgz
  32. DEB # dpkg -i ksquirrel-0.8.0.deb

  34. Note: You can pass all regular 'configure' options to configure.gnu.
  35. Note: You needn't specify --prefix, it's already done in configure.gnu.
